Lamp-Inspired Showers: Bathroom Trend
The designers of these ceiling and wall-mounted showers took inspiration from the realm of lighting design to shed new light on the archetypal shower head.
Resembling a hanging lampshade, Toto USA‘s ‘Aimes’ rain shower head uses water flow to power the soft glow of its LED lighting system. The 11″ spray face is equipped with rubber nozzles that prevent lime-scale build-up.
The arm of the new ‘Closer’ shower head by Diego Grandi for Zuchetti is based on the design of an articulated lamp. Designed to be adjusted and extended simply and intuitively, the Closer shower head has three joints and a cylindrical counterweight that ensures that it is stable in any position and at any height.
Combining water with light, the Axor LampShower by Japanese designer Nendo is a wire frame lamp shade with water jets embedded into its rim. The falling water creates an enveloping rain shower illuminated by a light bulb encased within the wire frame. The Axor LampShower is available in both wall-mounted and ceiling-mounted versions.
