DuraStyle by Matteo Thun for Duravit

Showcased at ICFF earlier this year, bathroom brand Duravit have introduced the DuraStyle collection of fittings and furniture by world renowned designer Matteo Thun. Where other product lines have tried and failed, the DuraStyle collection offers understated luxury style at affordable price points, making it the perfect solution for commercial projects.

Together with Matteo Thun, Duravit – renowned for their design-led approach and use of high tech manufacturing – have created a bathroom solution that runs the gamut of scale; its wide range of units and components allow it to be specified at both a small and large scale, from boutique residential to luxury commercial projects.

Specifiers can choose from a variety of washbasins, mirrors, bidets, furniture, bathtubs, and innovative rimless toilets to create a composition for any bathroom space.  Thun explains, “DuraStyle has a distinctive look, but predominately showcases understated design. Only a few individual pieces stand out, so as a whole, it highlights the personality of the user.”

Unlike so many ‘designer’ bathroom solutions, DuraStyle is also moderately priced, offering fantastic value for money. 

The comprehensive collection is characterized by it’s carefully-considered proportions and quiet, less-is-more approach; the rectangular narrow-rimmed washbasins include both handrinse and full-size versions, while the flat seats of the rimless toilets are available with SoftClose in both wall-mounted and floor standing models. It’s also worth nothing that not only do these pared-back designs look aesthetically pleasing but they are also easier to clean.

The collection is completed by a range of furniture where Thun’s clever use of of real walnut and oak with creates a warm ambience and a pleasing contrast with the white ceramic. Furniture pieces include an assymetial vanity unit with an open shelf at the side, washbasin surrounds with or without drawers, streamlined towel bars, a classic tall cabinet and efficient LED mirrors.
