Screen by Filippo Bombace for Effeti USA

Effeti USA, the US subsidiary of Tuscany’s high-end kitchen cabinetry manufacturer, Effeti Cucine, has introduced Screen, a new customizable kitchen cabinet system which doubles as a room divider.

Designed by Rome-based architect Filippo Bombace, Screen debuted at the Salone in Milan this year and is now available to the US market.

The dimensions and cabinetry of the unit, including height, length, materials, and finishes, can be customized to the space and the homeowner’s preferences.

The defining characteristic of the design is its function as a screen — a system for dividing space in a way that still maintains visual and physical connections between kitchen and dining areas. This enables the person working in the kitchen to interact with guests on the other side of the counter without the activity being in full view.

With elegant and streamlined detailing, Screen’s kitchen cupboards and drawers are opened via the door-pull slot formed by the negative detail below the edge of the workstation. The rear of the unit provides a calm backdrop of wood paneling (again, customizable), adding warmth to the entertaining area and providing a ledge for displaying objects. “As a system, Screen is compact and customizable, but it’s also a wonderful architectural design with beautiful lines and proportions,” says Kelly Solon, co-founder of Effeti USA and an architect.

As with other Effeti Cucine systems, the cabinet doors and drawers of Screen are offered in matt or glossy lacquered finishes and a wide range of colors, including non-traditional hues like red, yellow and lavender. Effeti also provides several handsome wood veneer options from light to dark.
